Here is Tim’s version of the event (although the facts are not corroborated and we are still unsure if it wasn’t all a dream)…
“Me and a bunch of mates took on the Brechfa Enduro 36k race on Sunday 13th July. We are collectively known as the JNT (Just Not Textbook) group and we entered two teams of 3 people.
The course was pretty intense, made up of Red (Abergorlech) and Black (Raven) trails. This was the first time bikers were officially allowed on the new Raven (Black grade) trail (though between you and me, we’ve been doing sections of it for a while). The new black route is absolutely amazing! There’s a series of table tops that wouldn’t look out of place on Moto-X circuit, they’re massive!
We were blessed with some great weather on the day, though some of the ‘natural trail’ sections were still a bit sticky from bad weather last week. We set off at 10 o’clock and 2 hours 59 minutes later we rolled over the finishing line. We’d managed to pass a few bikers en route after the staggered start, but were not sure where we placed overall.
We were informed at the finishing line that we were the first back! 18 minutes later our other team rolled home, they were placed second overall! A big 1-2 for the JNT posse!
We kicked back and took on a few guest ales at the Black Lion and watched the crazy 72k bikers roll in. A great day, we’ll be back again next year!”
